Floor Cranes
What Are Floor Cranes?
Floor cranes are a versatile piece of materials handling equipment designed to lift, lower, and move heavy loads safely and efficiently. Unlike overhead cranes that require permanent ceiling mounting, floor cranes are mobile units that can be easily repositioned within a workspace.
At its core, a floor crane consists of a sturdy base fitted with wheels or casters for mobility, a vertical mast, and a horizontal jib arm with a hook suspension point. This configuration allows the crane to lift loads from the floor level, suspend them in the air, and manoeuver them into the desired position, all without requiring overhead clearance.
The main advantage of floor cranes lies in their compact design and portability. They are ideal for use in confined spaces, such as workshops, warehouses, or manufacturing facilities, where traditional overhead cranes may not be feasible or practical. Additionally, floor cranes eliminate the need for workers to manually handle heavy objects, reducing the risk of strain-related injuries. With various models available, including fixed, folding, and counterbalanced designs, floor cranes can accommodate a wide range of load capacities, typically ranging from a few hundred kilograms to several tons. Their versatility makes them invaluable tools for numerous industries, from automotive and construction to manufacturing and warehousing.
